Is that a bat? What is a bat?

We had a great opportunity to see a bat today outside a door at school today! Many kids had never seen a bat nor knew that they are, so we had an impromptu lesson on safety around wild animals and took a trip outside to see it. We will be learning about bats later this fall, so it was a excellent experience.
