Good afternoon families! We had a busy day today that started off with a fire drill. The kids learned how to exit our room safely when they hear the fire alarm. The played a game named "Find Someone Who..." in order to learn more about the members of our school family. Mrs. Hilden, the school counselor, read a Kindergarten story to the class, and then I showed the students a document camera and projector as we practiced reading each other's names. After lunch, we watched a Chick Chicka Boom Boom animation on You Tube which the boys and girls LOVED! I know that the students would enjoy watching it at home again, so I have given you the link to do that. You will find that link on the right of the page under "Cool Kindergarten Sites". We made coconuts with our pictures and names on them in order to practice cutting, gluing, counting the letters in names, and arranging the letters in names.
The students are having difficulty after recess lining up in our ABC order and walking in line. I would appreciate your support at home to talk with them about the importance of knowing their spot in line and lining up quickly. Then, we have more learning time! Thank you for discussing this with your child.
