Procedures, Procedures, Procedures

Today, we continued working on procedures to help our classroom run smoothly. The students learned the morning routine of checking backpacks, putting away folders, placing cold lunches in the bin, and then working on their warm-up (this morning it was to draw a picture or write a story). They learned the chant "Backpacks, Jackets, Folder, Cold Lunch, Sit Down" to help them remember what they need to do. The students are starting to know the ABC line-up better and better, and soon they will be able to go right to their spots in line.

We recited the rules today and rehearsed the actions that go along with them. Then, we played a sorting game to teach Rule Number 1: Be Respectful. The students had to determine if a picture showed respect or not and then put it in the proper place. We practiced the rules many times today in order for students to become very familiar with them.

As you have seen in their folders, we also made a book about our Kindergarten class. The students did a great job of sorting themselves and then counting the boys and girls.
